Fishing at Cosmoledo
Flats
From November to April each year Tourette Fishing CC guides exclusive groups of adventurous fly fisherman to this unique flats fishing destination. Cosmoledo ranks arguably as the top GT (Giant Trevally) destination in the world, and this is the reason why so many regard this atoll as the pinnacle of salt water fishing. Besides GTs, the flats are home to large concentrations of bone fish, Indo Pacific permit (Pompano), milkfish, Giant Barracuda, Bump head parrots, and trigger fish. The bonefish on the Cosmoledo flats are famed for reaching slightly larger average size than there St Josephs cousins, and this is due to the make up of the atoll and the resulting tidal flows, and higher available food sources. Most bones run between 5 and 7 pounds, with trophy fish on these flats considered fish above 9 to 10 lb’s.

Blue Water:
The blue water fishing around Cosmoledo is world class, with species such as Wahoo, Yellow fin Tuna, GT’s, Dog Tooth Tuna and Sailfish prolific. Many anglers, at some time during their stay, prefer to take time off from the flats and concentrate on the amazing experience of the blue water fishing around the atoll. Something that is very worthwhile.
Some 700km from Mahé, a flight to Cosmoledo takes around two hours, from where the mother ship waits to collect Tourette Fishing guests.
The Average Day
Each evening your guides will decide on where and when to fish the following day, taking into account angler competence, species you wish to target, weather and tides.
Breakfast is served at around 06h30 each morning. Those fishing the flats will take a packed lunch with them onto the flats; those who choose to fish blue water will be served a cooked lunch on the mother ship. After breakfast you will be shuttled on the tender boat to a predetermined area of the atoll.
A typical fishing day involves wading the productive flats in search of bone fish, GT’s, trigger fish, permit, milk fish etc. Lunch is enjoyed in the shade on near by islands or on the mother ship. We plan to return to the mother ship at sunset each evening. All times are flexible and will be adapted to suit your group. Half day flats and half day blue water fishing is also a great option.
The Mother Ship – Indian Ocean Explorer II
The perfect marriage of luxury and practicality, The Indian Ocean Explorer II, is a mother ship that is both luxurious and capable of cruising the open oceans around Seychelles’ southern islands in search of the ultimate fishing adventure.
A predecessor of the Indian Ocean Explorer. The spacious luxury of Indian Ocean Explorer II, comfortably accommodates groups of up to 14 guests.
Tender Boats
There will be 4 tenders available, consisting of three 16’ to 18’ zodiac and one flat boat with casting platform and push pole.
