Destination: Mupata Gorge - Tamarindtree
River Lodge, Lower Zambezi. Season:
September - November. Accommodation:
8 bed luxury en-suited fishing lodge.
Lodge details: Tamarind Tree Lodge accommodation
consists of 2 stone chalets with 4 en suite bedrooms
nestled on the banks of the Zambezi River a 10

Park. The lodge over looks the majestic Red Cliffs.
The river extends the length of the property and
there are breathtaking views over the water with
sightings of buffalo, elephant, hippo and crocodile.
Angling (species and methods): Tiger
fish, numerous bream spp, chessa, nkupe, cornish
jack, bottle nose and giant Vundu. Fly fishing
in the Mupata Gorge is world class. This venue
offers fly fisherman a good chance of landing
trophy tigers of over 15lb. Art lure and live
baiting are also effective.
Pick up and drop off point: Lusaka.
Other activities: Sundowner cruises
and game walks and game cruising. Mupata
Gorge:
Mupata Gorge is a fly fisherman's heaven. The
dynamic fast flowing water, dotted and flanked
with sand banks, rocky islands, big eddies and
deep pools thus providing fly fishermen with a
myriad of fishable lies in which to target trophy
tigerfish on fly.
This venue differs from most on the Zambezi (both
Upper and Lower) in that the waters fished have
the characteristics of more technical river fishing,
yet on a far bigger scale. Due to the 'tight'
nature and structure-rich waters of the Zambezi
as it flows through the Gorge, fly fishermen are
kept busy casting into productive lies.
